Improving grades after graduation
Improving grades after graduation
Have you already graduated but would like to improve your grades in common units (YTO studies)?
If you wish, you can retake completed studies according to the current or transitional qualification requirements, and thereby improve your opportunities, for example in higher education admissions.
A vocational qualification (180 ECVET) generally includes vocational units (145 ECVET) and common units (35 ECVET).
Common units are divided as follows:
- Communication and interaction competence (11 ECVET)
- Mathematical and scientific competence (6 ECVET)
- Social and working life competence (9 ECVET)
- Optional competence targets from the above areas (total 9 ECVET)
How grade improvement works
Grade improvement takes place under supervision at Business College premises in Pasila. Depending on the unit, the retake is completed as an exam, test, or assignment, and in languages and communication also includes a spoken assessment. You will receive information about the method before registering and paying the fee.
The cost for retaking a full unit is:
- Communication and interaction competence (11 ECVET): €150
- Social and working life competence (9 ECVET): €150
- Mathematical and scientific competence (6 ECVET): €100
- Optional competence targets (9 ECVET): €150
The fee for a single part of a unit is €50. Payment must always be made before the retake attempt.
After payment, you will be granted study rights for the retake. The study right is valid for a maximum of six months. The assessing teacher must be given at least three weeks for evaluation.
The student is responsible for ensuring that the retake is completed early enough for higher education application deadlines. After assessment, the teacher will inform you of the result and whether the grade has improved.
