Student welfare services
At Business College Helsinki, we focus on preventive and community-based student welfare. Student welfare promotes and maintains students’ learning, mental and physical health, as well as social wellbeing and safety.
Comprehensive student wellbeing support
At Business College Helsinki, student welfare covers all measures that promote students’ learning, mental and physical wellbeing, as well as social safety within the institution. Our work is mainly preventive and community-based, but every student also has the right to individual student welfare services.
Social workers and psychologists are available to support you if you face challenges in your studies, wellbeing, or relationships.
Nursing and doctor services are also available to students—you can discuss any health-related concerns with them. The aim of student welfare is to support students holistically, and a multidisciplinary team can be formed if needed to support a student’s situation.
Social worker
You can talk to a social worker if your studies are not progressing for some reason, you are struggling with coping, or you need support with issues such as finances, housing, independence, time management, or general life management. Even lack of motivation is a good reason to come and talk.
A social worker helps you find your strengths and also supports strengthening your self-esteem. Sometimes social relationships can also cause challenges, and you can talk about those as well. Together it is easier to find solutions.
Social workers are located on the 2nd floor.

Psychologist
A psychologist works as an expert in psychology at the educational institution. Their role is to promote student wellbeing and support learning.
You can contact a psychologist when challenges relate to studies, emotional wellbeing, relationships, or life changes. Students can contact the psychologist directly, and it is recommended to do so even when problems are still small. Guardians may also contact the psychologist if they are concerned about a young person, or if they wish to discuss matters affecting the student’s life situation.
If you contact the psychologist by email, please include a phone number where you can be reached. (Please note that it is not recommended to send sensitive personal information by email.)

School nurse and doctor
Student healthcare services include the services of a school nurse and a doctor. The school nurse is a nursing professional responsible for health counselling and health check-ups, and works in close cooperation with the doctor.
You can find the school nurse and doctor on the YK floor.
