Tuition fees

The tuition fee applies to people coming to Finland for study purposes, or who have come to Finland for study purposes, and who are not citizens of an EU Member State, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, or Switzerland, and who begin their studies after 1 August 2026 (Vocational Education Act 531/2017, Section 105 a).

However, the tuition fee is not charged if the student:

  • has a permanent residence permit (P)
  • has a continuous residence permit (A), except when the permit (or first permit) has been granted on the basis of studies
  • has an EU Blue Card or an EU residence permit for a long-term resident third-country national, or is a family member of such a person
  • has a residence permit based on temporary protection
  • is subject to compulsory education

For students starting in August 2026, the tuition fee is 8,484 euros per academic year. The fee remains the same throughout the duration of the studies.
